Today, we learn which 3-dimensional shapes can roll, slide and stack. I challenged the students to race each solid shape down the carpet and back without picking the shape up or throwing it. We found that the cube had to
slide across the carpet. The sphere
rolled. We discovered that the cylinder and cone could
roll AND
slide.
Later, we discovered that 3-dimensional shapes make up our city! Building can be cylinders, cubes, pyramids, spheres or rectangular prisms. We used skyline pictures from around the world to inspire our own city creations.
Great work!
